Meet Dr. Laverdiere Beck
Julie Laverdiere Beck, DDS is board certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. She received her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She then completed her dental degree at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. Dr. Laverdiere Beck completed a general practice residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she gained extensive knowledge in all aspects of dentistry. This training is above and beyond what is taught in dental schools. Her Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery specialty training was performed at the University of Illinois, Michael Reese, West Side VA and Cook County Hospitals. During her residency, Dr. Laverdiere Beck was appointed chief resident. In addition to her formal certifications, she obtains the highest level of continuing education including non-invasive cosmetic procedures such as botox and dermal fillers.
Dr. Laverdiere Beck has a special interest in education and has taught residents in the oral and maxillofacial surgery training program at Cook County Health and Hospital Systems for over 20 years. She has also previously taught the GPR residents at Illinois Masonic Medical Center and was a Senior Clinician Educator at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, as well as a former Clinical Instructor at Northwestern University College of Medicine. She currently serves as the Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Executive Director, UIC Dental Alumni Board of Directors, and is an Illinois State Dental Society PAC committee member.
Dr. Laverdiere Beck has been in private practice in Glenview since 1995 and has lectured on multiple topics, including oral pathology, bone grafting, and medical emergencies in the dental office. Dr. Laverdiere Beck has also been actively involved with organized dentistry and has held several chair committees.
Dr. Laverdiere Beck is married and has twins. She has enjoyed watching her son play hockey through the years and watching her daughter perform in dance when they attended Loyola Academy. Her son, Matthew recently graduated from Boston College and is attending Marquette University Dental School. Madeleine, her daughter, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and attended Northwestern University for graduate school. Dr. Laverdiere Beck is also involved with philanthropic work in the north shore community, such as Our Lady of Perpetual Help Sister Paulanne’s Needy Family Fund, and Northbrook/Glenview Youth Services. She has donated her time and service to El Nino Rey, a dental missionary trip to Mexico, and Missions of Mercy, a locally based service to help those in need.
Dr. Laverdiere Beck has certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support.
