Phil Meehan, DDS
Dr. Meehan, originally from Rockford, IL, received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with Honors from the University of Missouri in 2009. Following his undergraduate studies, he completed his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery ) degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2013. During his time there, he was recognized as one of the top students involved in their more specialized Oral Surgery Honors program. He received numerous awards for exemplary academic performance, one of which was the Omicron Kappa Upsilon fraternity. This academic society is only offered to the top 12% of students in each graduating class.
Following dental school, Dr. Meehan completed a 4 year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Cook County Hospital and Rush University Medical Center in downtown Chicago. During residency, Dr. Meehan was appointed chief resident and cared for a diverse population of patients requiring a wide range of treatment. He gained extensive experience with facial trauma, plastic and reconstructive surgery, skeletal/facial deformities, severe odontogenic infections, oral/maxillofacial pathology including head and neck cancer, and facial reconstruction. He also was heavily trained in both operating room and outpatient anesthesia, dental implants, dento-alveolar surgery including wisdom teeth, bone grafting, and orthognathic surgery. He was awarded Resident of the Year in 2014 and 2016 for his work ethic and academic performance amongst his local and national peers.
After completing residency in 2017, Dr. Meehan joined Dr. Laverdiere at Oral Surgery of the Glen and became partners in 2021. He participates in ongoing continuing education and stays current with the latest techniques and methods to enhance surgical outcomes. He holds hospital privileges at Weiss Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Meehan lives in downtown Chicago with his wife, Bridget. They have a 1 year old son, Graham. During his off time, he enjoys running on the lake with his dog June, golf, boating, and going to live concerts and sporting events. He is an avid endurance athlete, competes in triathlons, and recently completed his 5th Chicago marathon. He also enjoys traveling, photography, and the Chicago Cubs.
